The dark night of June 9th-10th 1912 in Villisca Iowa
No one in the small town of Villisca, Iowa ever suspected such a thing would happen in their rapidly prospering town. Their homes were locked from the inside, although most of them didn't feel the need to do so. But after the murder of the Moore family on the night of June 9th, fear struck the town and they all either locked their doors, or bought locks for their houses. No one felt safe for the first couple of days. Some probably didn't feel safe for months, maybe even years after this happened. This crime remains unsolved, and it will never be solved. The murderer is long dead, taking this dreadful secret to his grave. Some had suspicions on who it is at the time, but lack of technology to trace for fingerprints and such, were not available at the time. And if it was available, it was used poorly. Today, most people who have studied this event say they know who committed it, but we will never know.....
